Le Livre d'Aurore

The French composer Raoul Laparra came from a family with Spanish ancestors and devoted himself not only to Spanish folk music as a researcher, but also took inspiration from the folklore typical of his country for his own works, of which especially the Spanish operas were successful during his lifetime.

Among his songs and chamber music, there are also original finds, such as the Suite for Flute and Piano, Le Livre de lAurore, published in Paris in 1926, which, like two further cycles of the same title for piano or violin and piano, offers a vital, humorous and sound fresh sequence of 12 character pieces in the style of Claude Debussy's Childrens Corner.
