While Dotzauer is most known for his works for cello, the piano was his first instrument and he always treated it with the greatest care, from the abundance in counterpoint reminiscent of Bach to exquisitely thought chamber music parts.
He wrote at least five works dedicated exclusively to the piano, and here is the first one: Six Waltzes for piano four-hands, Op. 17. They are simple enough to provide excellent practicing and performing material for students in their second or third year.
