Tsaritsino

The Tsaritsyno Palace is located in the southeast of Moscow. In the 18th century, Catherine the Great wanted to have a magnificent country estate built here just outside Moscow. The Russian empress did not like the result after ten years of construction, so she had everything demolished again. The subsequent construction work on the new designs was never completed. Since the 1980s, parts of the building have housed a museum. Together with the large surrounding park, the ruins, which represent a mixture of different architectural styles such as Gothic, the old Russian architectural style and Arab elements, are today a popular destination for excursions.

The scenic work "Tsaritsino" by the Belgian composer Johan Nijs begins with a magnificent grandioso introduction and broad, solemn sounds, followed by a fast-paced, lively part with short eighths and strong accents. The middle section "Lamentoso" is a lament full of melancholy, in which the Russian sound character is particularly beautifully accentuated. The finale of "Tsaritsino" starts quietly at first and increases more and more to an exuberant conclusion.

BASIC SOUND From S to XXL - music for every wind orchestra line-up

With "Basic Sound", the music publisher RUNDEL has created a series that offers wind orchestras an interesting and diverse repertoire - and this for the most varied instrumentation sizes, from S to XXL.

Due to the basic instrumentation (the "Basic Sound"), performances are possible even with minimal instrumentation. The "Basic Sound" instrumentation is immediately recognizable in the score, since the voices required in any case are clearly marked.

The smallest size (S) for "Basic Sound" consists of the following instruments: a flute, two clarinets, an alto saxophone, two trumpets, a trombone, a baritone/euphonium, a tuba and percussion. Each issue also contains an extensive voice set (XXL). Thus, the works of the "Basic Sound" series can be individually adapted to the respective orchestra instrumentation.
