The Sonata in E minor op. 3 no. 6 is undoubtedly one of Paganini's most popular and most frequently performed compositions. A beautiful, melancholy melody is followed by a fast hunting motif section in thirds, while the middle section requires fluency and pizzicato in the left hand. Nevertheless, this short, attractive sonata is one of Paganini's relatively "easy" pieces to perform and is therefore also very suitable for study.
Our new edition is based on the first edition for violin and guitar published in Milan in 1819 and Delphin Alard's arrangement for violin and piano from 1865. Our edition contains both versions, i.e. both the piano and the guitar accompaniment.
