This Russian Concerto in one movement is dedicated to the great Russian trumpeter Timofei Dokshitser and is similar in character to the music of Dmitri Shostakovich or Aram Khatchaturian. Easily accessible (end of cycle 2 or beginning of cycle 3), with no great difficulties, this ABA-form piece begins peremptorily in a deliberate, martial and ironic style, close to Shostakovich's music for the cinema or his 'Concerto for piano, trumpet and strings'. A short cadenza, reminiscent of the one in the Arutunian Concerto, allows the trumpeter to shine.
Part for B flat or C trumpet and separate piano part.
