Malcolm Williamson (1931-2003) was an Australian composer, who moved to Britain in 1950 and spent the rest of his life there. He was appointed Master of the Queen’s Music in 1975, a title he held until his death, andwas reputedly the most commissioned composer of his generation.
The song cycle Celebration Of Divine Love was written in 1963, making it one of the composer’s earliest vocal works. It is scored for HighVoice with Piano accompaniment, and dedicated to Barbara Elsy. The text was written by James McAuley, an Australian poet who Williamson often drew inspiration from.
